My Folks
My parents are cherished ones
whom I will always love,
always be in debt to,
and always care for
They have been in my life from the start
They will never leave my side
I will never forget my childhood memories with them
Always going the extra mile to please me,
to make me happy,
to put a smile on their daughter’s face
My mom is a bright flower
She’s beautiful
and is always there to extend her petals when my salty raindrops need something to land on
She soothes me with her perfect words
as it seems she always knows what to say and opine
My father is a firm bridge
There to aid me in crossing any gorges, cliffs, or ditches that come along
My gratitude towards my father runs deeper than any valley
These are my folks
as sweet as sugar cane
These are my folks and
I love them
