Memories
Finally the hurt begins to mend
The past fading
Until the day he calls again
Wanting me to visit him
Getting out of the car
I take a deep breath
Planting my feet on the asphalt
I walk forward.
Pictures snake their way inside my head
Seeing his face through the bars
The images make me feel uneasy
With a heavy sigh I sit down
Facing a man’s eyes that mimic mine
Unsure of what to do I just stare
All the memories come back to me like the pressure of diving deep in water
Searching for something familiar in his face
I find nothing
A different man.
