This Is Just To Say (I Got What I Came For)
That bronze medal you won last year
With the blue and white ribbon
From that race I invited you to
Was supposed to be mine.
I work harder than you
I should have been faster
1 minute and 27 seconds
Gave you my medal.
I did care, even if we were friends
That medal was supposed to be mine.
The thought of it around your neck
Made me work hard all year.
I ran the race again, last Saturday.
You weren’t there, but I got my bronze medal with the blue and white ribbon.
I would have gotten it even if you were there.
I’m not mad anymore. I feel fine.
The bronze medal with the blue and white ribbon
Is around my neck.
I got what I came for.
