Falling Rain
I love the rain
The driving drops that fall from the sky
As they dance off the window pane
I hear a harmony
My heart jumps as a lightning jolt crashes to the ground
Frightening, but the flash lights up the sky
The blissful rain as it pours from the sky above
Like a pitcher of water
Those mid-day rain showers that don’t last long
The sunlight and rain as one
It quickly comes to a stop
And then continues again
Why is it that people dismiss the beauty of rain?
Running indoors as the wet and cold water drenches
Heavy rainfall
Floods of pain
My wet skin melts into the rain
And camouflages my tears
The water cleans my soul and washes away my fear
My guilt
I get an icy chill
As I walk in the showers of spring
The warmth of another person as they hold me in the rain
And kiss me
Burdened clouds of mournful gray
Begin to part and the light shines through
The leaking clouds dry and drift away
Making a clear blue sky
The rain has stopped
But the dew remains on the grass
When the flowers bloom
And it starts to rain
I know it’s spring
