Emerald grass thicker
than tattered leaves fallen
two seasons before,
blown away,
announcing a fresh start
for free falling flowers
dipping red petals into
the crunch of the
pebbled path.
Pollen dusting and sticking
to all signs of change,
to warmth,
to summer,
to new beginnings.

Like the flowering tree,
I too have blossomed,
been renewed. Old burdens,
like dead leaves have
blown away, broken down,
now ready to bring on
unvarnished light,
fiery passion,
irreproachable freedom.
A lone tree,
green and blooming,
wet with dew,
like tears of
past winter’s nostalgia,
but ready for new birth
in the honesty of
the summer’s sun.

This was a nature poem that we were required to write in creative writing. This is my favorite piece we did.
