Bruised Twlight

Watching in the stillness
as the sun bleeds in the bruised twilight
sparks of reds and oranges like
blood pouring from broken veins
into the cool darkness of black velvet
dusted with diamonds
behind her curtain of clouds
the moon awaits her cue
to bring back light
to the shadows of the haunted night
