Only months ago she was running,
Her feet flying through the air.
Training as hard as she could,
Cross-country her number one care.
Her picture in all the papers,
Such success in the state finals race.
11:59 for two miles,
Yeah, it earned her second place.
But now I hear her crying,
Her school running career done,
No longer shall you find her
On her infamous afternoon runs.
I’m sure she regrets the day,
That she ran as fast as she pleased.
But how was she to know
It would lead to such pain in her knees?
IT Band Syndrome they say,
But of no help without a cure.
Will she ever be able to walk right again?
Of nothing they are sure.
And me a little sister,
With a running career too.
Is afraid of what to say in front of her,
Everything makes her so blue.
And me a little sister,
Who prays for her all the time,
Has now begun to lose hope.
Is there a cure they will ever find?
And me a little sister,
Who loves her a very lot,
Who wants so badly to take away her pain.
I want it to stop.
