Life is like an ocean. We are the rocks, tossed about by the harsh waves, barely making it to the surface, but when we do reach the shore, we are all smooth. Finally perfect and complete.

I could see the deaths and sorrows,
Of all who had ever passed through this way,
And each was so graphic, each so
Terrible I cannot even say

My mind and my body grew depressed,
And I began to see things that
I couldn’t stand to know that could not be repressed,
And so now you know why, dear Cat

Why I stand here, weeping for eternity,
Why my heart has grown to stone and my body
Has grown into impenetrable wood, you see
My spirit cannot leave this tree.

This is an excerpt from one of my stories titled Daeva. It's the song of the Weeping Willow, and the weeping willow is speaking to a Cheshire cat.
