Thunder ripples across the night sky
Flashes of white, purples, and blues
Clashing with the dark clouds
The air is thick, heat

I can feel something coming
Preparing for the storm to hit;
Making our imaginary sailboat
I want to catch my breath as the lightning strikes

To hear the pitter-pattering of raindrops
Warm arms embrace
Hiding out in bed sheet sails
Waiting for our journey to entail

The droplets smack the tin roof
Sounding like symbols from a drum
The adventure begins
Over and over the tidal waves crash

We jump in anticipation
Counting the seconds between
Lightning and the thunder collide
The tempest of the storm has passed

The shore has come into view
And we’ve made it to our destination
We’ll wait for the next storm
Its summer
