Longing and Wishing
I wish my life was over,
I wish my head was high.
I wish my fight for self-acceptance,
Wasn’t such an endless plight
I wish I had a clear mind,
Then maybe I would see
The true friends I’ve always had,
Who never will leave me.
I wish I didn’t drown myself
In misery each day.
I wish my longing heartbreak
Would simply fly away.
I hope that someday I will see
That person in the mirror,
The one I want to be.
But, alas, these are wishes
They simply are not fate,
And death does come to relieve us all,
You simply have to wait.
