It’s a good day to die, boy
the sun’s shinin’ overhead
looks the very same back home
in the very same sky

If you close your eyes
the foreign land you stand in
turns into them golden fields
you grew up playin’ in
when times was peaceful

and you can almost remember what peaceful means

It’s a good way to die, son
gun in hand, head held high
freedom ringing in your mind

We all got to meet the Good Lord some day, don’t we?

And if you go in war,
maybe, in the years to come,
your sons can die in peace
