Guardian Angel
“I love you,” he said,
that was all she needed to know as he pulled from the driveway.
All too soon the tears were a brim,
As the news of the accident spread.
Soon the tears turned to anger,
Towards herself for not stopping him,
As her life became but a light shining dim.
What might have been?
She put on a grin,
bared through the days that followed.
What might have been, and was no more?
It got easier and easier for her to move on knowing he would always be her friend,
For he was an angel watching over her from Heaven in the end.
