Repeated Word Poem: Wave
Rippling in the wind as I entered the recruitment office
I looked up and saw it,
Waving
A break in training
I wiped the sweat from my brow
Looked up and saw it,
Waving
On the top deck of the battleship
Looking out over the waves and in the reflection
Of the ship on the water I saw it,
Waving
Enemy planes roar overhead
Bullets slice through its fabric
Torn from its mount it flies away in the sea breeze
Waving
A small boy picks it off a South Vietnam beach and ties it to a stick
I look down as I jump from the plane
And I saw it,
Waving
