If Only
If only
They could get past
The acne that dotted her face
And the paleness that sunk in her skin.
The way her hair curled when it rained,
And the dirty blonde roots that often showed through.
If only they could get past
Her over-opinionated self,
And her over-emotional heart,
Her dark style of clothing
And the shyness that kept her alone.
Would they be able to see
Her blue eyes, bright like a husky’s
And her teeth that were almost straight?
The way her hair shined like rubies in the sunlight
And how hard she worked to straighten it each day?
Would they see
The kindness that outlined her words
And the love she possessed for all living things?
The way she avoided to make them upset
And her mind filled with dreams?
Would they notice that
While they never bothered to be her friend
No one else in the world had, either?
