What Some Call Naivety
I am like a newborn duckling, impatient to see and learn
Going straight from the nest into open water without hesitation
and with no need for back up (though it’s always nice)
Never knowing what’s around the bend in the creek
but anxious to find out;
Always facing the unknown with optimism and hope, never with fear or dread.
And jumping into a busy road with eyes only for the other side.
Learning quickly,
Growing always,
Illustrating the flaw of perfection
And so gaining independence sooner than the others.
What may seem lonely never really is
When you face the world with optimism and hope.
