I Am That Person in the Car
I am that girl in the corner
That person in the car you passed earlier
You know more about me than I do myself
I look in the mirror and do not see what others see
You may think I am beautiful
I disagree
You may think I am unhappy
You may be right
I am the girl who saw you and thought, “Pretty.”
I am the girl who laughed at you as you passed
I do care, no matter what it looks like
Did I seem cold, sad, when you saw me?
You can't judge a book by a cover
I am the artist that you see in the library
Smiling at a painting while other teenagers are hanging out with friends
Did I look like some crazy punk?
Some people may say so
I disagree
I am the girl that cares about her family
Who cries for her friends
And tries to be a good kid
I am that girl in the corner
That person in the car you passed earlier
