These Are The Things That Make Me Smile
No one really knows what I truly love.
The wind, so strong, it knocks me over,
The smell of grass after it’s been mowed
A smile from a complete stranger,
The rain that falls on a warm day,
The sound of a book, being opened for the first time,
The single cloud in the sky, not bothered by being all alone.
These are the things that make me smile,
These are the things that make my laugh.
A sleepy yawn from an innocent animal,
The silence you hear being underwater,
The stillness of a quiet night,
The feeling of complete nothingness when you float carelessly in the water.
These are the things that tingle my skin,
These are the things that calm me down.
The pure sound of a note being sung,
The sight of the first star in the evening sky.
These are the things that bring me joy,
These are the things that give me strength.
Why then is it that I am the only one who knows it?
Does my smile not give you a clue?
The smallest things make me laugh but no one seems to see.
Just me, myself, and I and the silence that we bring.
