Desert Deserted

A craggy slope rises from the purple haze
As a stone arch stands proudly at its heels,
Noble in its silence.
Not a sound is heard,
But for the wind’s dark whisper;
It carries only dust,
With nothing but more ahead.
And yet a hope remains.
A cloud lies above,
Cruel in its aquatic bounty.
Not a drop will be shared
With this lonely place,
Silence its only companion.
