An Everlasting Bond
I sit here
And remember the days
Where I could do as I say
Without a worry in the world
I remember when I was a knight, a sailor, even a spy.
I always had my strong stallion,
My supportive captain
My partner in crime.
And now, as I stare at this empty jail cell
I am alone.
My soldier has left me.
I am restricted within these laws
That I cannot change
And all those times,
I found nothing but the flaws,
In my never changing companion.
Now I stand before you, on my own two feet
Unsure of my potential
To carry this burden I bear
Unsure of my ability
To complete my task.
And as I watch you leave
I am forced to believe
In the one thing I hope you will be proud of,
Myself.
I hope I read the secret messages you sent me,
I hope I learned the lessons hidden deep inside the games we used to play
I hope I haven’t delayed you on your path of growth
But most of all,
I hope you never forget me.
