The Great Debate

The greatest debate at Christmas time
Isn’t about family
Nor is it how much to spend
Its what does atop the tree

An angel heavenly and fair?
Or a star that shines so bright?
The rivalry is keenly felt
And often I’ve heard them fight

Said the angel, “I told the shepherds of the Savior’s birth”
Said the star, “I led the Wise Men as they journeyed across the earth”

The angel replied “I serve the one most High”
The star just laughed and said “I know. I can see you from the sky”

There’s no end to this argument
They cannot even count
To compare the number of angels to stars in the sky
For no one knows the true amount

So when you go to trim your tree
Remember what I’ve said
Don’t worry, you don’t have to choose sides
Just put a picture of me up instead.
