The Rain
I overcame the water
that poured through my four story window
as the rust from the ceiling started peeling
and my boat lost sense of how to stay a float
the storm took a moment to gloat
so the inner working of my mind
started to rotate and move to a steady grind
i dropped the heavy baggage
that made me lose grip of how to manage
then the rain began to pour
stripping the shores of my mind this indiscriminating force was unkind
had no regard for the fragility within me
so I hoped it would make a point to let me be
or assist me in my battle with the sea
that was so very cruel yet taught me to strive
for something more even when the tides got high
and I wanted to break down and cry
something deep inside said no not this time
