Where I Feel Safe
Looking out the passenger window, I feel the sun beating on me but if I were to
open the window I would be struck with a cold sharp breeze
It’s what I love about Saturday mornings; you have the entire weekend ahead of you
Not positive what I’ll be doing tonight, but I am headed for a family gathering
We are celebrating some occasion; I just can’t recall what it is exactly
I prefer talking to some family members over others
When we arrive we’ll be welcomed with loud cheers, good for the self-esteem I suppose
And I won’t know who to greet first because I am being bombarded
Later there’s the drive home
Serene and tranquil warmth engulfs me as my eyes catch the water’s glisten
