"Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game"

Do you realize what just happened?
you killed my best friend
you texted your mom to tell her you were driving
you drifted over the center divide and hit a truck
Do you know what you did?
you rolled the car over
you put us upside-down in this ditch
you killed yourself
Do you think this is okay?
you paralyzed me from my waist down
you ruined my life
you ended yours and Misty's
Now you'll never text again
I'll never walk again
Misty will never do anything again
All because you had to say, "mom, I'm dri-"

I was doing a research project on car safety and decided to write a poem about the bad things that could happen from texting and driving.
