Conversations
When we met,
on that warm summer afternoon,
every word that crossed your lips,
captivated me.
We had the greatest conversations,
that were longer than a mile.
About nothing and everything.
When we dated,
for those long months that seemed too short,
those talks grew and grew
as we spent more time together.
Taking long walks through Depot.
In the summer, and on nice winter days.
When we fell in love,
each and every conversation was filled with safety.
Trust.
And secrets that no one else in the world knew.
When you broke, and crushed my heart,
I remembered all of the meaningful talks.
The dark late nights.
The long, pointless car rides…
and realized that I would never have that again.
