The race
Lace up my spikes
Listen to the gun shoot
my race has started
trapped behind
a horde of teenagers
I have a slow start
I'm not worried
It's the one mile race
I've done it before
I change my pace
So I can pass people
And get a good time
One lap to go
The clock reads: 4:20
I begin to sprint
I run my heart out
on this lap that seems like infinity
1:20 is how long it took me to finish
my last lap
and with a time of 5:40
I'm decently pleased
because it's only the start of the season
and I'm sure that I can improve
