“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.” -Eskimo Proverb

There was a time when we were friends
Hanging out and having fun
Never thought those times would end
When all of a sudden you were gone
Leaving me to wonder why
As I sit and look at photos
Why'd you choose to leave me behind
After all of our fun times
Was it because you felt left out
Or maybe that I'd changed
Could it be that you were jealous
Of all the things I've gained
Whatever the reason
I sincerely hope
That maybe someday
You'll come back and say
Can we be friends again
'Cause you know that if you do
I'll gladly reply yes
And tell you how much I missed
Being friends with you
In the mean time, I hope you know
Your friends I'll always be
No matter where in the world we go
A lost friend you'll never be to me

The author's comments:
With my recent experience of losing two of my closest friends, I wrote this poem to express my sorrow about having lost the friendship as well as my hopes that someday in the future, I'll be friends with these two again.
