The Void
We sat together
on cool eternity,
our feet dangling
into orange canyons,
our mouths rusted shut
from lack of use.
You handed me
a piece of forever
beneath the deep blue midnight.
It fit into my hand
like a promise
and I tried to smile
with my eyes,
but all I could do was grimace.
The desert was laughing,
but the cacti remained austerely silent
as they worshipped
beneath the smooth waxy moon
as it laughed back
at the sand.
It was silent.

things are only as dark as you make them.
there is always beauty in every situation. look for it and you will see.
smile; sometimes it's all that will keep you from crying.
