I remember being happy
My heart soaring to the clouds
Invisible threads tugging the corners of my mouth skyward
Laughter bubbling up my throat and tickling my lips
You could see spirit glinting in my eyes
I used to wear this face for all to see
But people change, crisis occurs, and joy is harder to come by
My heart's been muffled by the pain
Muscles force my lips into grimaces attempting grins
Dry sobs replace laughter
And the only thing shining in my eyes these days are the occasional tears
...I miss happiness
