The Secret
An image greets you.
Analyze, criticize, fix,
And out the door you go.
This is what she provides.
A reflection of all,
But does she have a face of her own?
She learns from the different men, women, children
That stare into her eyes.
Her glassy shape has a streak or two.
Possibly a crack,
But never will it lie.
She sees them look at her,
Either with greed and pride
Or anger and disbelief.
She is disappointed in herself.
She is the reason for the sadness or overconfidence.
She wants them to look back at her,
And always be happy.
Impossible, they say.
But they didn’t know what she knew.
The secret.
Obvious, yet unknown.
Her goal:
To have the faces that rely on her
Realize.
It was hidden within.
Some seen more than others.
But it was there.
And she will do it.
