Apostrophes

There are many symbols
Used in English speaking lands,
Ranging from commas to periods
And even ampersands.

In order to show an object
That one may possess,
At the end of the subject
Place an apostrophe followed by an “s.”

Contractions are compound words
Lacking one or two letters,
That have been replaced by an apostrophe
In order to make fluency better.

To form the plural of letters, numbers, and signs
Apostrophes are also used,
To the end of what needs to become plural
An apostrophe and an “s” are fused.

Aside from these three uses
Apostrophes are not as commonly found,
When somebody speaks, however
They are bound to be around.
