Emotion
I look up.
Anguish, Regret, and Want
stare back at me.
They are dressed casually
in a sounders jersey.
Hair cut short,
cute freckles, and
bright, ocean, blue-green
eyes.
They stare at me.
"No more chances."
"Lost forever."
"What's done is done."
Regret pushes me down,
throws me into a corner.
Anguish, eyes filled
with pain and sorrow,
grabs a knife and places
it in my hands.
All of them stare back at me,
waiting to see if the pressure will push
me over the edge.
I hear Want shouting:
"Do it! Do it!"
His voice spits out every word.
The pressure mounts.
Higher.
Higher.
Then
finally I push
the blade down,
releasing all my emotions.
I didn't know
emotions were red.
