Dear Dad
Remember when you used to bounce me on your lap
I was so happy I’d start to clap
You read me all the fairy tales
Now you yell when I start to fail
Stop warning me about every boy
Dad I’ve stopped playing with toys
I yell, scream, and pull out my hair
You sit calmly in your chair
Now it’s time for prom
We couldn’t have made it without our new mom
Dad I’m going to have a baby
Now I’m the old lady
We may see each other at Christmas
Yes dad I know you miss us
Daddy when did you lose your hair?
Why are you in a wheelchair?
The doctor says you fell
You weren’t able to answer the doorbell
Now everything is black and grey
All I can do is cry and pray
I know you’re in a better place
I can’t help but picture your face
Everything you did was right
I just wish we hadn’t had that fight
