Just because I’m African
I’m not stupid
I’m not slow
And I’m not afraid

Just because I’m African
I’m not poor
I’m not ugly
And I don’t smell

Just because I’m African
I can make it to college
I can be successful
I have a dream

Just because I’m African
I deserve to be treated equal
I can make a difference
I can cry and love

Just because I’m African
You think I’m different
And you see me as a threat
All cause I’m African.

This piece explain how i felt when i first came to America. Feeling different and even being treated as i did not belong.
