I hang upon the silk sheets of my hopes and dreams
Waiting, listening, watching,
Don’t look down because you’ve come to far
They say, don’t let go because everything you have done
Will be worthless they say
So I just rest here, pondering, not going up or down
My arms are shaking like a child who has just woken up from a nightmare
Don’t let go, don’t let go, they say and I don’t let go
I grasp the sheets, higher with one arm at a time
Higher and higher I go like a mountain climber on Mt. Everest
There doesn’t seem to be an end
I look up and all I see are the ruffles of my silk sheets,
No pinnacle, no destination,
Don’t let go, they say
The only option is to go up
Don’t let go they say,
So I just hang here on these silk sheets
Neither going up nor down
