My Escape

Books are my escape you see
They are my way out of reality
A way into another person’s life
Allows me to forget about my own
Their problems, their love
Are a glimpse of hope for me
They let me know I’m not alone
So don’t yell at me because of this
We all have different ways of dealing with what we miss
For me it’s hiding
For you, lashing out
I’m not being “difficult” as you say
I’m protecting what’s left of me
My life doesn’t need to be a dramatic story
