Summer Air

By , Covington, LA
Like a summer day
Completely Embalmed
Encompassed in the warm sweet yellow baking stagnant
air around you
Summer air
Summer air is different
Summer air is thick
Hot
And alive

Not the venomous bite of winter air
But coiling summer air

Summer air

Is like a m i l l i o n particles
Of beaming sunlight
Swirling around

Lazily
Like molasses

A feeling of possibility

Barefoot
Squishing your feet into cool grass
Wet with a summer rain
Steaming concrete
Muddy warm rainwater
Seeping between your toes
Making wet footprints on the dry areas of concrete

Dressed in breezy white

Air

Encircling
