Facade

By , Birmingham, AL
If all the world's a stage, I must wonder -
What is my role in this tragic drama?
Not Miss Perfect Princess: I make blunders
I'm the miserable comic relief.

I play the game of make-believe quite well,
Laughing to drown my quiet hidden tears...
I smile but I'm not doing that swell
I'm pretending their sneers don't get to me.

Yeah everybody loves a clown, it's true.
Objectified as a silly cartoon
I look a fool to everyone but you
You tear away my facade easily

But I'll keep acting for everyone else
because
I'm the miserable comic relief.
