What I Am
I am weathered, cracked, used
Old, worn out, damaged,
I have been many things
I have been used in houses, farms and buildings.
Now I sit in a pile unseen
And I wonder what I could have been.
People walk by and see
And square piece of wood
And I wonder if I could
Be a new home for a family, or a stable for a horse.
I have been in rain, snow, and wind.
I have been knocked down and built up many times.
I am like an aging farmer going downhill
not used anymore.
I am a piece of wood
