Piece of the Past
A water stained barn beam stands alone
holding memories from long ago.
A family poured their blood and tears
in the creation of a structure which would stand for years.
The children who would yell, laugh, and play
enjoyed their days frolicking in the hay.
Through the storms the regal barn would hold
for future generations to stand as bold.
Then the day came that the builders destroyed
the massive old structure made by the boys.
Now here stands this memorable piece of the past
sitting solo as the very last
for children to sit, observe, see
and dream of what it used to be,
like reminiscing on your high school days
when you’ve changed in countless ways.
