Do I Really Like You, Love You?

The thoughts that hunt my mind,
Thinking that I like you, love you.
The idea of the delightful day that your
Arms wrap around my waist.

Maybe the thought made me giggle,
When the jokes you told were as funny as pickup sticks,
When you looked at me I felt as though,
As though I might melt.
Maybe the thought was too strong.

Do I really like you, love you?
When my dreams contain nothing but fraud?
The thought of love so strong,
Tugging as my heart, hugging my mind,
Are the thoughts of a lonely girl.

When the rain scatters down ‘tord Earth,
When a bird flies by,
When the night is cold, I think…
And every thought flows back in.

The pressure of growing-up, of the new Adult…
Of having another person love you…
Of hearing and giving love and receiving,
Receiving what the lonely girl wants…
What the heart declares true happiness.

I was in love, not with you, but,
But with A new Thought that strikes,
Strikes with a strong pang, a bang of
Many drums. A loud beat to an unknown song,
Singing a melody struck by innocence and fantasy,
A mad, mad world of new, for the young lonely girl.
She fell in love with Love.
