Lonely Nights on the Boardwalk
Glowing lights and summer nights
traveling across the boardwalk
feeling so lonely in a crowd of:
ride-goers
thrill seekers
entertainment whores
Wondering when I will next talk to you
Wondering what it would be like to be close
- Rather then a thousand mile separation
Wanting to feel your fingertips brush my hand
To have your voice utter my name
feel your arms encompass me in a hug
and dare I think about your lips brushing against my cheek?
See the glow from night lights from neon diner signs
and blinking roller coasters shine in your eyes
Watch as the moon reflects off the sea water
creating a mosaic across your luminescent skin
walking along the beach
sitting on coastal rocks talking about nonsense
which means everything - because they were words you spoke
A New Jersey night on a crowded boardwalk never felt so lonely.
