I drew a blue heart,
Where there once was no love,
For myself or others,
My own heart was shut off,
Not letting anything in or out.

I drew a blue heart,
Where the scars kept appearing,
One after the other,
Self-inflicted yet out of my control,
Like a balloon about to pop.

I drew a blue heart,
Where I usually kept hidden,
All day and night,
Not wanting anyone to see,
What I’d been doing behind closed doors.

I drew a blue heart,
Where the scars are now fading,
My skin is tougher than before,
And although the heart will wash off,
The scars will stay with me forever.

I drew a blue heart,
Where there was no blue only red,
I could mix the two and make purple,
Paint my own heart with color,
Thus, not forgetting the past but also knowing
There is love.

thank you :) to write love on her arms was part of my inspiration for this poem, and for literally drawing a blue heart on myself one day. thanks for reading it.

"Saying 'I notice you're a nerd' is like saying, 'Hey, I notice that you'd rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you'd rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?' In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even 'lame' is kind of lame. Saying 'You're lame' is like saying 'You walk with a limp.' Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he's done all right for himself."

this was really beautiful!! I loved how indirect it was about everything, like cutting and write love on her arms day (at least I think that's what it was about..).Great job!
