I drive
Congested lines of murmuring people
skinny people
waiting to make an entrance
Strands of lights stretch across the road
clothing dangling off
I drive
Blue and yellow fluorescent lights in the windows
beer-beer-beer
Musty cigarette smoke drifts in the air
the whistling, winter air
I drive
Shimmering tight skirts
revealing tops
Handsome, muscular, young men
wandering
I drive
Damped music heard through every open door
pulsating
booming
Bouncers stand firmly in black suits
static coming from their walkie talkies
I drive
Traffic crawls
cars honk
High heels scatter on the concrete
click- click- click
I drive
Couples casually kiss on the sidewalk
smiling at one another
Yellow taxis go both directions
people hopping in
people hopping out
I drive

The author's comments:
I was driving through downtown St.Louis on a Saturday night and could not believe what I saw. It was as if I was in another world- the party world.
