Finally, I Feel Free
Standing on the pier
feels like
standing on vast open land
all alone
with a flood of people.
I see the noise,
yet hear only the
gentle splashing,
of the innocent waves
colliding with the cylindrical legs
of the pier.
Life is at a standstill.
I taste the salt collecting
in the atmosphere
as the cold mist gently
caresses my body,
captivating my every thought.
I dread the idea of reality.
As the rip-tides steal
my everyday struggles,
the overwhelming presence
of the soul-grabbing water
takes control.
The pier stands strong
in the abundance of water—
I stand surrounded
yet secluded
and finally, I feel free.
