Happy Birthday Jordan.
You’d be seventeen today.
I want you to know that I remembered,
Even though you couldn’t stay.
Your present is still where I left it,
Hidden under my bed.
We both knew you knew where it was,
But it was better off unsaid.
There will be no cake or balloons,
Expressions of surprise.
So instead, I’ll just sit
And let sorrow escape my eyes.
