"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." -Ghandi

what do you believe
they scream to me
I don't know
I scream back

do you believe he died for a reason
are you willing to commit this treason

what do you bleieve
they scream to me
I don't know
I scream back

do you believe there's something greater
something big enough to fill your internal crater

what do you believe
they scream to me
I don't know
I scream back

do you believe in some eternal power
something over which none of your problems tower

what do you believe
they scream to me
I believe in something
I scream back

what is this something that has your belief
can it give your aching soul relief

what do you believe
they scream to me
I believe in something
I scream back

is it the something your life needs to heal
is it the something your spirit needs to feel

what do you believe they scream to me
I believe in something
I scream back

are you willing to change your life for this
are you willing to give up your so called bliss

what do you believe
they scream to me
I believe in something
I scream back

is it something worth living for
or does it leave you wanting something more

what do you believe
they scream to me
I believe in something
I scream back

it's something that gives me hope
it's something that helps me cope

what do you believe
they scream to me
I believe in something
I scream back

it's something that makes me hate myself
it's something that helps me forgive myself

what do you bleieve they scream to me
I believe in something
I scream back

it's something that keeps me going
something I should be more strongly supporting

what do you believe
they scream to me
I believe in something
I scream back

something that is greater
something that is better

what do you believe
they scream to me
I believe in something
I scream back

what it is I have no clue
but what I know is that it's true

The author's comments:
This poem is about the spiritual uncertinty that teens in this world expirence. We're expected to know what our beliefs are, and if we don't we are lumped into the "agnostic" group even though we may know "what" we believe but not the words to describe it.
