The cell phone screen lights up red,
‘New Text Msg’ it says.
Plop, splat, into the yellow salty broth
I reach in to retrieve my soaking wet phone from the bowl,
my new chicken noodle soup smelling phone…
Who was the text from that I received?
I’ll never know, with this black screen.
The Rice Trick!!
Wipe down the phone, place it in pieces into a bag of white rice, so slick.
Back to texting, now with a bright screen.
The front lights up red,
‘10 New Txt Msgs’ it says.
