Give him a chance

I never thought I’d fall in love with him
Parents didn’t approve of him
He wasn’t looked at with respect
He was a skater
Everything about him was skater
The clothes, the hair, the attitude
He was a trouble maker
There was no doubt
Good grades?
Ha
Treated adults with respect?
No way
He did things his way
Only his way
Why would I fall in love with him
There are tons of boys
With a better reputation
But no I have to fall in love with
Him
My friends rolled their eyes and
Told me to stay away from him
But I couldn’t
Something told me
To give him a chance
To not pay attention
To the whispers when I was with him
The dirty comments people would make
All the judgments
And I found out that
Under that skater
Was years of
Rejection and pain
His mom left
His dad almost died
And inside that skater
Was a scared, hurt, child
So please if you know someone
Who needs a chance
Give them one
