The Devil's Deal

What if I told you I could take away all the sorrows in your life?
What if I could take away all the sadness, the loneliness and the heartache?
What if I could keep you from ever feeling pain again?
You would beg me to
You would wish for a life of bliss
The one I promised
I never promised happiness
I said I would take away the pain
I didn’t mention the small price to pay
With a swipe of my hand I could make you forget your pain
And your happiness
You wouldn’t feel anything
What’s so great about feeling anyway?
Without your soul you would live a life of indifference
You would live, never understanding hate
You would never love without being loved in return
Sure, you couldn’t love in general
But you wouldn’t miss it
You would never feel any regret,
Any guilt
What is so bad about living without a soul?
It has worked out quite nicely for me

this is simply AMAZING. i can't tell you how good this is. it's really deep and it's a thought i've often had. having no feeling no guilt no sadness. but still, without feeling, i'd never feel anything good either. thank you for sharing. this is really great :)

I agree, this is different. I like it a lot. I like the meaning in the poem, and the way it points out the trade you'd have to make- happiness and sadness, together.

"Kid, if you're still afraid, then do it scared."

This is so different, in a good way :)

your line breaks are a little confusing at times,

but what i love most about this is that its from the devil's point of view and the beginning really caught my attention. awesome!

People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.
