I remember you coming to my Dad’s deli ordering the BLT sandwich






and drinking a cup of coffee
























and reading the newspapers























and winking at me as I tried winking back


















and taking me to see Santa























and giving me the thing that Santa did not have that I wanted













and giving nice comments every time I showed you a completed puzzle








or a finished coloring page from a coloring book














and doing this every day as you came to my dad’s deli













until the time you came,
and
my dad was no longer the owner






















and I never said goodbye.
